Technical and Financial Feasibility Study of the Soy Value Chain in Togo

Context & objectives:

Togo has positioned the soy value chain, particularly organic soy, as a strategic lever for national growth, offering strong opportunities in regional and international markets. The founders of Label d'Or, a reference player in Togo's organic soy ecosystem, initiated the creation of Soyalis, a dedicated entity aimed at centralizing and structuring all soy-related activities (raw organic soy export, industrial processing, poultry and aquaculture feed production). GGGI mandated Matine Consulting to support Label d'Or and Soyalis in assessing the technical, commercial, financial, ESG, and operational feasibility of transitioning to an integrated, climate-smart value chain.

Main achievements & impacts
  • Market and value chain analysis (Global – West Africa – Togo – Middle East): production, exports, prices, dynamics, regulatory framework, and certifications (organic, non-GMO, EU standards).
  • Company diagnosis and scalability analysis: review of the production system, supply model, seasonality, integration of producers and cooperatives.
  • Technical and operational analysis: assessment of equipment needs, international supplier benchmarking, definition of storage and logistics requirements.
  • Complete 5-year financial modeling: revenue by product line, CAPEX, OPEX, IRR, NPV, break-even point.
  • Impact: Definition of a clear investment case, development of a robust Business Plan, and production of investor-ready documentation (pitchbook), enabling effective targeting of impact investors, DFIs, and agro-industry specialized funds
